Thank God that He has guided the National Youth Servitude Training through completion this year. The seminar was held from Friday May 27th to Monday May 30th at Hillsborough Church in New Jersey. There were approximately 60 participants, not including auditors, NYM committee members, or ministers.
The theme of this year’s NYST was based on the words that Jesus spoke in John 12:27 - “For this purpose I came to this hour.” The two subtopics focused on the servitude of Jesus and the servitude of Paul. The full-time ministers each prepared 6 lectures for each of the two subtopics. Pr. Jonathan Chou spoke on the servitude of Jesus and Pr. Enoch Hou on the servitude of Paul. We reflected upon the attitude and motivation of servitude, drawing inspiration from Jesus' determination to carry out God's work to the end and Paul's unreserved devotion. How can we avoid burning out? When can we decline holy work? These are questions we grappled with and discussed.
In addition we also brainstormed and planned potential projects and activities to implement at our local churches. These included evangelical and pastoral events and gatherings, and fellowship activities to help bring unity and foster spiritual relationships among the youth.
Throughout the seminar we enjoyed spiritual nourishment and fun fellowship, and the brothers and sisters at Hillsborough treated us with wonderful love and care.
